Hello! I'm David, and I'm one of the people playing in the upcoming Heralds of Ruin campaign.
A little about me, I got into 40k about 18 months ago as the Basement Gaming Club ran an escalation league that started at 250 points and was planned to go all the way to 1500 over the course of 6 months, this eventually didn't end up happening as expected as life took its toll and a few of the players had to drop out. But it did get me into the hobby and my wallet has hated me since.
I started with Space Marines after wanting something easier as my first army and when I asked about the chapters I had brief descriptions of the various ones with the Salamanders fiercely sticking in my mind, and after a few months of research and model buying I had a small force of them. Fast forward to now and I have 3500 points of marines 2000 of Necrons and visions of many many more in the future.
For the campaign I will be playing as the Salamanders, and will attempt to purge Medea of the Chaos and Xenos threat. We talked a lot during our introductory meeting about sticking with the fluff and it's something that the 4 of us do want to do to the best of our ability.
One thing that this campaign does for me that it wont do to such an extent for the others is encourages us to paint, I love the building and playing parts of the hobby but my hands aren't the steadiest and my hand-eye coordination isn't the best so painting never grabbed me as much as the other parts of the hobby did. I am going to try and have, by the last game of our campaign, all of the models of my force painted to a standard where I am proud of them.
That's it for me for now and I'll see you when the fighting has begun.
